Sundown

You're still my friend, aren't you, Lostcampia?

Shed a tear for Dogen and Lennon.

"Obi-Wan... there... is good in him. I know there is... still...."

"Twisted by the dark side, young Skywalker has become. The boy you trained, gone he is... consumed by Darth Vader."

"There's still good in him."

"He is more machine now than man. Twisted and evil."

"I know there is good in you. The Emperor hasn't driven it from you fully. That is
why you couldn't destroy me."

"Now... go, my son. Leave me."

"No. You're coming with me. I can't leave you here. I've got to save
you."

"You already have, Luke. You were right about me. Tell your sister... you
were right about me."

  1. Sundown is one of my all-time favorite episodes.

I'm normally not an 'action' guy, but the action scenes in this episode were intense.

I enjoyed how they tapped into Sayid's inner nature: despite him trying to assert that he's "good" or "not that type of person," the alternate universe Sayid proves that this type of violent act is simply part of his quintessential nature. Thus, the smoke monster understands that and is able to manipulate him into helping his cause.

I love that when I see 'Locke' as the smoke monster, I really do NOT see Locke, but I see this other character. That's amazing that the actor is able to do this and also that the essence of the show is able to create this.

I've watched this episode a few times. So, one of my earlier theories was that the smoke monster was good and that Jacob was evil. But, this seems to go against that. YET, when Sayid returns to the temple, he announces that the smoke monster is looking for people to go with him (i.e. leave the island), that they were all jailed on the island and unable to leave because of Jacob. This seems to be true. So, I'm unsure again about the smoke monster--maybe he is trying to help people get off of the island or get 'freed' from whatever the island IS that has a hold on them.
